Former ZANU PF stewards in Bulawayo who were part of the Generation 40 faction have reiterated they will not be re-joining the ruling party after claims by Matemadanda that they were begging for forgiveness.

G40 members, a faction which was associated with former first lady Grace Mugabe, and was allegedly angling for her presidency before its leaders were forced to flee the country after the 2017 military coup are said to be regrouping with former ZANU PF national political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere hinted as the leader .

Zanu PF national commissar Victor Matemadanda at a Zanu PF’s Bulawayo district coordinating committee meeting held in the city said that G40 remnants were begging to be readmitted into ZANU PF.

“They wanted to contest, but according to our party’s constitution they could not, because there are certain procedures that need to be followed.

“They need to reapply and serve for a certain term for them to be considered.”

However NPF Bulawayo provincial political commissar Andifasi Banda accused Matemadanda of day-dreaming and asked “why re-join Zanu PF” after President Emmerson Mnangagwa accused us of sabotaging his presidency.

“He is day-dreaming! We are not going back to that party. He was just lying because after all why would we want to re-join that party when we are unwanted,” he said.

“The president himself has said he does not want us in the structures.

“They have said we are a security threat not to Zanu PF, but to the country.

“They are scared of us and having sleepless nights about what we are doing which is good. We are busy with our programmes…if we had gone back to Zanu PF we would have grabbed all the posts, ” he added.

G40 remnants are said to be grouping with former ZANU PF national political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere tauted as the leader.
