The ruling party, Zanu-PF youth leadership has come out guns blazing accusing President Mnangagwa’s close ally and businessman, Kudakwashe Tagwireyi of conducting fraudulent dealings which have brought the economy to it’s knees.

This was said by Zanu-PF youth deputy secretary, Lewis Matutu and Youth wing’s political commissar Godfrey Tsenengamu at a press conference held in the capital today.

The duo accused the Sakunda Holdings owner of having octopus hands in almost all sectors of the economy in which he is winning all tenders through corrupt means.

Matutu questioned how Tagwireyi who was implicated in the disappearence of US$3 billion under the Command Agriculture scheme continues getting many government tenders to date.

Mnangagwa’s advisor, Tagwireyi was on several occasions summoned by Parliament’s Public Account Committee chaired by Harare East MP, Tendai Biti to explain how the funds were used but to no avail.

Tsenengamu said that there are a group of cartels manipulating key sectors of the economy for self enrichment at the expense of the majority who are suffering.

“We have cartels in gold sector, cartels in diamond mining, cartels in fuel and some in pharmaceutical industry who are holding the country at ransom as they are enriching themselves whilst the majority are suffering,” said Tsenengamu.

The pair added that they were not accusing Tagwireyi so they would gain political mileage but were fighting for what they termed the “generational cause” against corruption.

Zimbabwe’s economic situation is severely deteriorating and the dilapidation is continuing even in the so called “new dispensation” under President Mnangagwa.

The Zanu PF youth leadership condemned those that stealing using Mnangagwa’s name to exercise their corrupt bussiness.

“These people are stealing and they try to cover up themselves using the president’s name, though not sure if there are saying he is in the middle of that scandelous behavior.”

However there seem to be power dynamics within the ZANU-PF leadership permeating through it’s youth leadership as witnessed by a certain group of the youth wing which distanced itself from today’s press conference via their Twitter account.

The implicated cartels are alleged to be aligned to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga which have resulted in Mnangagwa trying to use the youth league to neutralize the powers of the VP.

There are suggestions that there could be some factional confrontations of the cartels by the Mnangagwa faction which mainly comprise of war veterans and the youth league.
