The ZANU PF party has described the later President of Tanzania as a man who worked tirelessly for the emancipation of Africans.

In a statement, the Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo said Zimbabwe mourns together with the people of Tanzania.

“The people’s Party ZANU PF has learnt with shock and sadness of the untimely passing on of His Excellency John Pombe Magufuli, the President of the Peoples Republic of Tanzania.

“A great statesman and loyal son of Africa, President Magufuli fits perfectly well in our Africa’s Hall of Fame, who loved our people and worked tirelessly towards the emancipation of Africans,” said Ambassador Moyo.

He described the late Tanzanian leader as a great friend of Zimbabwe and a Pan-Africanist.

“Indeed, President Magufuli won the affection of the people of Zimbabwe when he fearlessly and consistently called tor the removal of illegal sanctions on our people. It is not by mistake that the 25 October Anti-sanctions was adopted in Dar es Salaam at the SADC summit in 2019,” he added.

“A somber mood has engulfed Africa as we grieve the passing on of a dear friend. ZANU PF led by President and the First Secretary of the Party H.E Cde ED Mnangagwa sends its fraternal condolences to our Cdes and friends of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and the fraternal people of Tanzania. We are with them and mourn together during this very difficult moment.”
