A 34 year old woman surprised the court when she admitted that she had not been raped but lied to get revenge at her former boyfriend for mending up relations with his wife whilst dumping her.
Chiedza Dzowa, the complaint who resides in Masvingo rural, accused Lovemore Mutubi of rape.
The two were love birds and their relationship turned sour as the accused called it quits and got back together with his wife who had come back from South Africa.
The complainant told the court that she was raped on two different occasions by the accused at his homestead after he had invited her.
“The first time he raped me l kept quiet and told my sister Chenai Dzowa and the second time he forced himself on top of me as I found him naked after he had just finished bathing. I did not tell anyone but when he told me he loved me no more l decided it was time l had to open up on the rape as l had kept silent because l loved him,” she said.
The accused denied the allegations saying that, the two were love birds by that time and he never raped her but she promised to make her pay after he told her that he was getting back with his wife.
“My wife was in South Africa by the time we dated and now she is back we have since moved in together and Chiedza is not accepting her fate that is why she is lying to the court,” he said.
After being questioned by the court, Chiedza admitted that she had lied about the rape charges as a form of revenge against Lovemore for dumping her and said that all the two incidents were fabricated.
She said her sister had helped her in coining the rape story.
The complainant said that she lied because the break up did not go down with her as she thought the relationship was forever so she wanted revenge for the break up.
Accused was found not guilty of any offense.
