A handful of Zimbabweans on Twitter today made homophobic remarks to MTV star Lasizwe over posting his support for Zimbabwe during the #ZimbabweanLivesMatter campaign.

Lasizwe had posted, “I stand with Zimbabwe” but had to pull down the post as some people attacked him for being his sexual orientation.

He later posted, “The homophobia I am currently experiencing from my fellow african brothers and sisters is heart breaking! We still have a long way to go for the LGBTQI community to be free in Africa!”.

Some of the comments he had received majorly spoke about how #ZimbabweanLivesMatter had no room for openly gay people.

The TV star has since gotten support from a lot of Zimbabwean people including Thandekile Moyo and Buffalo soldier.

In solidarity with Lasizwe, Thandekile Moyo posted, “Many hugs to you. I don’t even know what to say. I pray one day we will live in a world where everyone understands and is appalled by any kind of oppression and/injustice. I’m truly sorry for the hate you are facing. Many many hugs to you. And lots of love”
Buffalo Souljah also added his voice by saying, “Yo fam @lasizwe even when you go in the streets for a peaceful protest the enemy will always plug in looters ‘We #ZimbabweanLivesMatter stand with anybody who stands with us.”

Meanwhile, as the #ZimbabweanLivesMatter gathers momentum, celebrities from all walks of life have been pouring their support for Zimbabwe.
Celebrities such as Ice Cube, Beenie Man, Mr Vegas, Gabrielle Union, Winky D and host more came through to support the cause.

Bustop TV earlier on spoke to Buffalo Souljah on the silence of some Zimbabwe artists.

He said that artists were in a terrible situation where they had to consider their safety after speaking and he challenged politicians to fix things because people wouldn’t protest if all was well.

“Zimbabweans have to be compassionate and stand together for the course. Some things do not require an uprising. Police brutality ne corruption should not be a norm if it’s in existence sezvatikunzwa then pakuda vanhu vari in power to think with their hearts rather their minds. Sympathize with the people moitira vanhu something,” said Buffalo Soldier.

The #Zimbabweanlivesmatter campaign is still going on and many voices keep speaking out.
