Two pupils from How Mine Secondary School have been arrested after they allegedly raped a seven-year-old minor at a community hall.

A family member, who spoke to B-Metro on condition of anonymity, said the two suspects were aged 14 and 15 years old.

The family source said the 15-year-old teenager masterminded the rape ordeal by giving the grade two pupil sweets and after that inviting the minor to a community hall to play.

When they got there he played with the unsuspecting child and after some minutes they were joined by his 14-year-old friend, the source said.

A source close to investigations said one of the rape suspects undressed the minor and the two then took turns to rape her.

After the act the 15-year-old gave the minor more sweets so as to buy her silence, said the source.

The source said after the ghastly act, the minor bled and walked with difficulty. Her mother got suspicious when she saw her walking in that state and asked what happened to her, the source said.

She revealed to her mother that the two boys took her to a community hall to play and later raped her and gave her sweets so that she would not tell anyone.

The mother took the child to How Mine clinic, where she was referred to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH), where the minor was examined and it was confirmed that the child was raped.

She reported the rape incident at How Mine police base leading to the arrest of the two suspects.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident: “ We would like to urge parents and guardians to always monitor their children and warn them not to agree to play at a secluded place. And they have to report to their parents any person who acts suspiciously to them.
