Soldiers Sentenced To 40 Years Imprisonment For Armed Robbery

Zimbabwe Defence Forces General Court Martial has sentenced two soldiers, Dzimbanhete Tatenda and Trooper Munesi Wilfred to 40 years in jail each for armed robbery.

The two pleaded guilty to charges of armed robbery committed on November 15 2021 at the Surrey Farm near Marondera.

Director Army Public Relations , Alphios Makotore said five years of their sentences were suspended on condition that they return US$16 380 and R600 to Simon Arnold of Surrey Farm.

Dzimbanhete and Trooper have been discharged from the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.

In the past year Zimbabwe has witnessed a spike in armed robberies involving serving and retired soldiers.
