Robber Fakes Death In Highway Ambush

Bindura CID has arrested two brothers after they executed a movie style robbery along the Bindura – Harare highway on Tuesday.

According to an informant within the police ranks, the two siblings are Tawanda (27) and Mukundi Mufundirwa (20) of Budiriro, Harare.

Allegations are that the duo together with one other suspect still on the run on 26 March around 2300hrs robbed Agent Kabvunda of US$70 and car keys.

The complainant on the aforementioned date and time was on his way to Shelite Gold Mine in Mazowe to collect his ore when he saw the first accused lying in the middle of the road pretending to be dead.

As he disembarked from his car to offer help the co-accused appeared from the bush and grabbed him by his neck before removing car keys from the ignition and fleeing.

The complainant then tried to chase after him into the nearby bush but he was met by the third accused person who is on the run armed with two machetes, one which he handed over to Mukundi and they then chased after him in a movie style.

The complainant on seeing that his life was in danger ran for his life.

Police later managed to investigate the case and apprehended the two who are now helping them with investigations and leads as they search for the third unknown accused.
