ONE of the buses belonging to Rimbi Tours which was on its way to Malawi has been involved in a fatal accident at Mutoko growth point.
The bus was involved in an accident with a motorbike and a Toyota fortuner.
The accident killed the biker who was run over by the bus while his passenger was badly injured.
Information ministry permanent secretary Nick Mangwana confirmed the development on his official Twitter account.
“A Rimbi Tours bus on its way to Malawi was involved in an accident with a motorbike and a Toyota Fortuner at Mutoko Growth Point along the Harare Nyamapanda highway.
“The accident claimed the life of the biker who was run over and his passenger was seriously injured,” Mangwana said.
The bus was involved in the acccident on a barred route. The company was banned from using the Harare-Nyamapanda route by the government earlier this month.
This was after one of its buses in January was involved in a fatal accident while racing with a Zebra Kiss owned bus along the same highway.
The accident claimed the life of a bus conductor leaving several others injured.
The two buses’ operating licenses were suspended before the government lifted the suspension after a few weeks.
