Confederation Of African Football (CAF) has reportedly given Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) the greenlight to host Warrior’s match against Algeria that set for November at National Sports Stadium (NSS).

A source revealed that the reason for approval is based on a particular recognition Caf has given to Zifa towards the efforts it has shown in revitalising the stadium to a certain expected standard FIFA and CAF can approve to host the match.

Apart from all this, it is also alleged that the stadium is not yet fully renovated to have reached all the required FIFA and CAF standards.

“Yes, it is correct the return leg between Zimbabwe and Algeria will be played at NSS, Caf has exceptionally approved it.

“The exceptional approval follows Caf’s acknowledgement towards the amount of effort Zimbabwe has demonstrated towards upgrading to expected standards,” the source said.

Nevertheless, the source also disclosed that, despite CAF’s exceptional approval of the match, the governmnet together with ZIFA will continue with renovations including installation of bucket seats and electronic access systems.

The source also added that government has already began processing a tender to install the much anticipated buckets seats.

“Despite the approval, the FA (Zifa) and government should continue working towards outstanding areas which are bucket seats and electronic access systems.

“Speaking of bucket seats, the government has already commenced the tender process for the installation of the bucket seats,” the source disclosed.

However, efforts to reach the ZIFA communications department were not fruitful as their number was not reachable.

There has been mixed feelings as Warriors supporters expressed displeasure over the decision that their team might play in a foreign land.

This was due to the incompetence of all the Zimbabwean stadiums, leading to the ban by CAF.
