President Mnangagwa urges citizens to observe COVID-19 regulations

President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has urged on citizens to strongly adhere to the World Health Organization (WHO) regulations and the imposed government strict lockdown COVID-19 measures.


Mnangagwa said this during his speech at the National Hereos Acre yestersay, at the burial of two national heroes, Morton Malianga and Ellen Gwaradzimba who reportedly succumbed to the deadly coronavirus pandemic.


“I urge all our people to continue sanitize, wear face masks properly and mantain social distance this is not time to be tired and let our guard down in the hopelessness.
“Those who are not on essential duties should stay at home,” President Mnangagwa said.


The country is facing rampant spread of the COVID-19 infections with more than 29,000 new infections and has recorded more than 900 deaths.
On Wednesday, Zimbabwe lost another hero to the coronavirus novel, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Dr Sibusiso Moyo.
The 61-year-old Moyo succumbed to COVID-19 at a hospital in Harare, despite getting a weekly treatment for kidney aliment at the time of his death.


Dr Moyo is the third minister to succumb to COVID-19 in six months.
Agriculture Minister, Perrence Shiri also died of the deadly virus last year in July whilst last week, Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs, Ellen Gwaradzimba succumbed to the deadly virus.
