The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Gwanda have arrested three men for smuggling a vehicle engine into the country.
The three namely, Bilgram Mapula Mleya, Lameck Bwana (24) and Dennis Ndlovu (22) were arrested after smuggling a vehicle engine en-route from South Africa into Zimbabwe.
“Police in Gwanda arrested Bilgram Mapula Mleya, Lameck Bwana (24) and Dennis Ndlovu (22) for smuggling a vehicle engine into the country,” ZRP said.
According to the police, the engine was recovered at a security checking point located along the Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road.
The three suspects who were travelling in a green Honda Fit with reg number AFG 8963, were intercepted by the police who later noticed the receipts showing the engine was bought in South Africa.
Moreover, the trio is accused of evading paying customs duty.
