Reigning champions, FC Platinum are set to travel to Zambia for a pre-season campaign on a date yet to be announced.

A source confirmed that preparations for the team to visit the Southern African country are at an advanced stage, though the exact day of departure has been finalised.

“FC Platinum are going to Zambia for a pre-season next week but the official leaving days and dates are not yet confirmed,” said a source.

FC Platinum’s spokesperson, Chido Chizondo however told this publication that she was not aware of this development and will inform of any changes.

Furthermore, the source stated that the three time champions will visit Zambia for tens day and will play friendly matches against four teams.

“The team is going to play four friendly games versus four teams in Zambia and will stay for ten days,” the source said.

Last week, Platinum was reportedly handed a green light by the Government through the SRC to begin their training as a group.

This comes at a time when the Zvishavane based side is in intense preparations of the prestigious CAF champions league campaign ahead of them in November.

FC Platinum only played one game this year, their victorious Castle Challenge Cup match against Highlanders FC that was played at Babourfields Stadium in March, before Covid-19 led to the halt of all sporting activities in the country.

The platinum miners recently lost the services of on loan midfielder Last Jesi, who signed a three year contract with Al Hilal of Sudan.

Silas Songani is the second player to reportedly join his former teammate, Jesi, though he is still on trial.

The Heindrik Peiter De Jongh coached side, last week announced the departure of Lizwe Sweswe as the team’s assistant coach, on a mutual agreement.

The 2019 champions will seek greenlight to travel out of the country from the Ministry of Sports and the SRC.
