New prices for fuel put in place

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has officially announced new fuel prices which will effectively take place on Monday the 5th  of April.


This was confirmed by ZERA via their tweeter account.

According to the new prices,  Diesel 50 will cost $111.17 rtgs and $1.32 in US dollars whilst Blend will cost $112.96 in local rtgs currency and $1.34 in US dollar currency.


Meanwhile, ZERA recently announced new new fuel import licensing conditions. Prospective licensed fuel importers are required to own or manage atleast 3 retail sites.


They are also required to produce proof of being able to improt 10 million litres of fuel in a year in the period of 2016 and 2019.

The new conditions include a license fee of 24, 360 US dollars excluding value added tax.


In their statement, the energy regulator (ZERA) said all the fuel importers applicants should apply before 30 April. 


ZERA added that starting from 1 May all applications for the procurement of fuel won’t be accepted.


In 2020, Zimbabwe imported 736 million liters of diesel and 404 million liters of petrol. In the same year the energy regulator licensed 733 fuel sites nationwide.
