Masvingo  As a way of complimenting MasvingoGeneral Hospital, a new central hospital is set to be built in the Masvingo.

This was said by the Minister of Health and Child Care, Obadiah Moyo at the commemorations of National Aids day at Mucheke Stadium yesterday (Saturday).

The establishment of the new hospital is not going to lead to the shutting down of the currently operatingprovincial hospital assured the Health Minister.

“We saw the need for a new hospital in Masvingo and that we pledge to establish a new hospital and thecurrent one will not cease its operations. The current one is going to be refurbished and spruced up. We want to improve the health sector and we are going to do this by ensuring a second hospital,” he said.

Moyo said that the gap is being covered and now stigmatization is an issue of the past.

“Doing away with stigmatization has led to improved health and there is progressing in terms of those living with HIV and AIDS. The development shows the highest level of understanding amongst the people. There are also measures that should be taken to protect those with HIV and AIDS in times of disasters and climate change. This is a very critical issue we should consider,” said Moyo.

The event was also graced by the State Minister for Masvingo Provincial Affairs, Ezra Chadzamira who said that he will also commit and pledge to the establishment of the new hospital in the City. He said that the new hospital will be a blessing to the people and it will ease the burden being taken by the provincial hospital that is most times overwhelmed with patients.

“The province is going to work hand in hand with the Ministry to improve the welfare of the community and will continue supporting those with HIV and AIDS and not forgetting those with TB and Cancer which had taken so many lives,” said Chadzamira.
