Masvingo – Reigning Mr Zimbabwe, Tapiwa Mutsimba is determined to empower the girl child and make sure they have access to education.
The model paid school fees for young girls who had outstanding debts and could not sit for their exams.
In an interview Mutsimba said that education for women comes in different forms.
“I believe that when you educate a girl child you actually educate a family and the community at large, it is a generational advantage and value because it is something that nobody will take away from you. There were girls who has sit down for exams and had outstanding debts. I did not want the kids to be stressed about feed but rather focus on their studies and that is when l decided to bail them out,” he said.
He is also calling for donations and partnerships with any individuals or civil society groups who are willing to make the world a better place for the girl child.
“Young girls must also be empowered with education and skills they need to protect them from HIV, the more they enroll in school, the ore they get to know about SRHR. This is also in line with UNAIDS Education Plus an initiative for adolescent girls education and empowerment in Sub Saharan Africa,” said Mutsimba.
It is everyone’s responsibility to make sure the girl child is educated for a better future.
