Doctors at Bulawayo’s Mpilo hospital today (Monday) vowed to press on with their job action until government reviews their salaries adding that they will not accept businessman, Strive Masiyiwa’s ‘dirty offer’.
Masiyiwa recently offered a six-month-long fellowship for doctors who reported for duty which includes phones, transport, accommodation and a non-negotiable $5 000.
In internal communication obtained by this publication, the Matebeleland doctors said after a meeting held today they agreed not to apply for the Higher Life Foundation (HLF) fellowship.
“We agreed that our class struggle cannot end today because of strive masiwa’s dirty offer. We rejected HLF. We won’t apply.
“For our sake, we agreed that we must continue deep in trenches until we get a respectable wage.
“Our loyalty to the struggle cannot be questioned, we continue fighting for a living wage.”
