Government is set to receive another consignment of 500 000 Covid-19 vaccination doses this month.

Speaking at a post cabinet briefing, Tuesday in Harare, Information minister, Monica Mutsvangwa said government is working on re-distributing vaccines to ensure citizens are fully vaccinated.

“Ministry of Health and Child Care is redistributing existing stocks to ensure availability of the second dose.

“A batch of 500 000 doses of vaccine is expected in the country by 15 June 2021,” she said.

To date Zimbabwe has recorded a cumulative of 39 238 Covid-19 confirmed cases including 36 746 recoveries, 881 active cases and 1 611 deaths.

The Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 94%.

Governments’ effort to procure more vaccines comes at a time when the country is running short of vaccination doses which has led to protests.

Last week, hundreds of citizens protested against vaccine shortages at Harare’s Wilkins Hospital, one of the country’s main Covid-19 vaccination centres.
