President Emmerson Mnangagwa has granted a state assisted funeral to Elvis Nyathi who was brutally killed in South Africa early this month.

This was revealed by the permanent secretary of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting, Nick Mangwana on Twitter.

He wrote: “His Excellency the President @edmnangagwa has granted the late slain compatriot #ElvisNyathi a State Assisted Funeral.”

The body of the deceased is expected to arrive in the country this weekend.

Nyathi was brutally assaulted and set alight by a mob in Diesploot, Johannesburg.

The now deceased survived by his wife and four children was working as a domestic worker in the neighbouring country.

The Zimbabwean and South African government have since condemned violence against foreigners.
