Controversial Norton independent legislator Temba Mliswa is being sucked in the ongoing murky political affairs in Mashonaland Central province after it emerged that he sinisterly acted as a power broker fronting interests of his political allies in Mazowe district ahead of Zanu PF primary elections.

Inside party sources are heavily concerned over Mliswa’s activities in Mazowe where he is recently reported to have clandestinely engaged Zanu PF provincial chairperson Kazembe Kazembe in a closed meeting with the intention of tabling a power deal that has since begun to explosively back fire.

The meeting reportedly attended by Mazowe Central legislator Sydney Chidamba, Guruve South MP Patrick Dutiro, Mazowe South MP Fortune Chasi, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Tsitsi Gezi and the District Coordinating Committee (DCC) chairperson Tafadzwa Musarara with the intention to convince Kazembe to bless the group’s plans in sharing the four constituencies is raising concerns from within the party and all security systems.

“As a party we are seriously worried especially that after the meeting where Mliswa and his cabal made power deals and peace truces mainly with interests to lobby on behalf of his political allies, there has been a sequence of chaotic political scenes which are threatening the stability of our structures in Mazowe,” said the source who declined to be named.

“Among the meeting’s main agenda was to influence strategies to save Chidamba from being contested in a bid to have him re-elected for a second term in Mazowe Central whilst Musarara in return pledged peace with Kazembe promising to not bring trouble in Mazowe West where the duo always make headlines over bloodbath campaigns,” revealed the source.

According to the peace deal Musarara’s political focus shifts towards Mazowe North which is currently under Campion Mugweni.

This publication is further reliably informed that security reports have been sent to President Mnangagwa who is allegedly not happy with the Mazowe party hierarchy for dining and wining with Mliswa who has close links with the G40 cabals and opposition members.

“It is true that security reports are red flagging Mliswa’s association with party members from Mazowe and this did not go down well with the President, remember Mliswa and Chidamba were both fired from the party due to their allegiance to the then Gamatox kingpins, the later rejoined but Mliswa has remained an independent candidate and going to the same political bed with him is considered an unholy matrimony especially now when we are preparing for elections, therefore entertaining such a character is a symbol of betrayal to the party, ” revealed the source.

Following sequence of meetings among the Mazowe district leadership in the past weeks it seems that efforts to adhere to the power deal are not being fruitful.

Battle lines are being drawn threatening the safety of the party in Mazowe, “the major undoing to the power deal has been the refusal by ex-Cottco boss Maxmore Njanji to be pushed away to Mazowe South, he is reported to be standing his ground in running against Chidamba and this is one of the major reason the deal is not working.

“Chidamba and Musarara made attempts to bait Njanji by faking promises to restore him his Cottco job in exchange for him not running for primaries, assurances where that since Musarara and Mliswa have been involved in creating charges to have him arrested, a plan that seems to have failed due to insufficient evidence, they could as well pull strings to have him reinstated however Njanji refused the baseless offer and this has seen battle lines drawn in Mazowe Central.”

The power deal has further divided the party in Mazowe District where the trio of Chidamba, Mliswa and Musarara are now making renewed desperate attempts to revive the collapsing court case against Njanji after he further declined the Mazowe South constituency offer from Chasi.

“Njanji could not have betrayed the people of Mazowe Central by going to Mazowe South where his ally Patience Tapomwa a Central Committee member is eyeing the parliamentary seat as well, the level of power hunger from Mliswa’s cabal is a cause of concern which points out to a violent and unstable primary election in Mazowe and possible rigging as well which calls for all security systems to be activated in the district,” added the source.
