Masvingo United Targets 30 Players

Masvingo – Former premier league giants, Masvingo United is targeting 30 players for this season as the Eastern Region league kicks off.

Masvingo United is holding trials and no player has been signed up yet.

In an interview with Bustop TV the team’s chairman, Hubert Fidze said trials are under way.

“Trials are underway and we are going to finalise on teams’ selection after the holding of ZIFA AGM which is the one that is going to guide us. So far no player has been signed but though the expectancy is 30. After the ZIFA AGM will also be able to know the figure for affiliation for the team, so will also draw our budget once the AGM is done.”

Una Una is facing a lot of financial problems and has been relying on the community for sponsorship, the team is now a community team and no one has approached them in terms of sponsorship but have the hope that soon they will get one.

In an interview, George Charumbira, the teams’ Interim Executive who also sponsored the team with training kit said all they want is the return of Masvingo United.

“We are working to make the team return to its glory days, Masvingo United is a big team and we do not want to see it collapse. There is need to join hands and make sure the team performs to its best, we want the team back in the PSL. We want the best players for the team, this is the only way we can see the return of the Asipo Haapo,” said Charumbira.

Former Masvingo United player, Desire Shumbanhete said there is need for the team to have sponsorship as it is the only way the team can be rejuvenated. The team needs to be financially stable for them to be able to sign off the best players who will take the team to the top league flight.

Una Una supporter, Dennis Mukuze said “We will never abandon Masvingo United and it is high time we use a different marketing strategy that will help the get sponsorship. We hope the trials go well and we get the best players, Masvingo United is not only a team but it is a brand,” said Mukuze.
