Masvingo – The Masvingo United board has started registration of team members using the RTGS$78 000 funds from the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Eastern Region.

An official said the registration was part of the teams’ plans to make sure the welfare of the team players is well catered for.

The team’s chairman, Hubert Fidze said, “ZIFA advised us that we use the funds as sign on fees and they stated that as Masvingo United we stood an advantage because we had not yet registered our players to date due to the national lockdown.”

Players are to open bank accounts that will facilitate transfer of funds.

“We are in the process of registering the players; as a result the figures will definitely come out as soon as this process is completed. All the registered players are also in the process of opening bank accounts with our bank to facilitate transfer of the money into their accounts, we are doing this for accountability and transparency for future purposes for the team,” Fidze said.

So far 13 players have been registered and looking towards signing more players.

“As of now we have managed to sign in 13 players of which the others said they want to consult their managers first before signing. Some are demanding more than we can offer them. 75% of the amount we agreed that it goes towards the players welfare and the balance we invest so that it does not lose value due to inflation.”
