MASVINGO province has recorded no Covid -19 confirmed cases in the past three consecutive days.

This is according to reports from the Ministry of Health Care.

A total of ten people recovered from the virus yesterday leaving six active cases in the province. Of the 33 tests done yesterday, none tested positive. Since the outbreak of the corona virus 67 people succumbed to the virus in the province.

Interviews that were carried out showed that Masvingo residents are geared up to fight the pandemic.

“The zero positive cases being recorded are in a clear indication that, as a province we are working towards something positive and we have to continue fighting. Active cases have to decrease to zero, so we have to continue fighting and make sure we follow the WHO regulations, prevention is better than cure. We no longer want to record any deaths; nobody should die from the virus as it is something we can fight against. Personally l am happy with the progress being witnessed in the province and it is now each and everyone’s task to fight,” said Spiwe Bhiza.

Givemore Fani said although it was a great milestone, zero positive cases do not mean Covid -19 is no more.

“Zero positive cases is not a sign that the virus is gone, we should continue taking precautions and be vigilant. If we relax we might end up having more positive cases again, so far so good we should continue fighting as a province for even zero positive cases,” he said.

The Spokesperson for the Masvingo Covid -19 Taskforce, Rodgers Irimayi said, “it is our prayer the cases remain like that and even record zero active cases in the province. We have to continue fighting as a province and we should not be reluctant as this will trigger more cases.

“Again during the Easter holidays people became reluctant, and we saw many activities even though they were banned and this could lead to many positive cases rising. So as a province we have to work together and fight against the virus. Let us continue following the World Health Organization regulations,” said Irimayi.
