Masvingo – A 22 year old man has been jailed after he raped a 16 year old female juvenile.
He was caught during the cast and attempted to escape.
The accused, Nyasha Ziwewe resides at Victoria Ranch. He is not related to the complainant.
The court heard that on the 10th of October 2020 at around 21:00 hours, the complainant met the accused person in the passage when she was going to take a bucket which was outside the house. The complainant got out of the house and the accused person followed her.
The accused dragged her to the back of the house. Whilst at the back of the house, Ziwewe fondled the complainant’s breasts. He spread a cloth on the ground and forced the complainant to sleep on it facing upwards.
He wemt on to remove her underwear and forced her legs apart and had unprotected sexual intercourse without her consent.
Fortune Mushaya who was holding a cellphone flashlight arrived at the scene and Ziwewe tried to escape with no luck. The complainant ran away since she was afraid that her parents would assault her.
Complainant met Moses Gurajena who was accompanied by his wife, Oline Chiwara and narrated her story to them. The two took the complainant to their place of residence where the complainant slept. Gurajena later phoned the complainants mother informing her that the complainant was in her custody.
On the following day the complainant was escorted to ZRP Chikato to file a police report. She was later taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where she was examined and the medical report will be produced in court.
