The high density area of Glen Norah has been graced by the existence of a Dojo at the Community Hall which has churned out progressive young minds. For the past eight years, the Glen Norah Kyokushin Karate Club has been running under the custody of Sensei Sneider Adam.

As the 23 year old is growing, his ambitions have also grown with him. He is now on the verge of partnering with 27 year old International Judoka, Sensei Moses Mutende in opening a new Mixed Martial Arts Dojo.

Bustop TV talked to founder of the club, 23 year old Sensei Sneider Adam on the motivation behind the establishing club.

Sensei Sneider said, “The Glen Norah Kyokushin Karate Club was founded by Sensei Sneider Adam who is an multi Award-winning champion, first black person to be appointed as the International Sports Organisation National Coordinator for Hando Council,International Combative Sports Country Representative for Zimbabwe, Former brand Ambassador at Aerobics Sports, Former Country Representative of Zimbabwe to the World Kiaido Federation, Branch Chief of United World Kyokushin Karate Organization. The Karate Club that I have opened up in Glen Norah is a way of giving back to the Community to impact the knowledge that I’ve got to the Youth as well as to nurture tomorrow’s leaders and champions and leading the development of the sport not just in the country but throughout the world. Martial arts benefit kids in every aspect of their lives; physical, mental, spiritual and emotional. Developing balance, coordination, focus, respect and discipline, self-defence is a well known feature of every practice. This is just a beginning. My Sensei, who is also my brother Sensei Moses Mutende,an International Judoka, and I are planning to open up an Mixed Martial Arts Academy which will consist many types of Martial arts. We already have got the name of the Academy it’ll be named after us, that is, Moses and Sneider Mixed Martial Arts Academy. We have already have our aims, mission, vision and target.”

He said that the two of them will leave their training hubs in Glen Norah and Hatcliff respectively to a more central venue.

“The new Moses and Sneider Mixed Martial Arts Academy will be located in Hatcliff as well in town. It’ll be incorporating with Glen Norah Dojo amd some other dojos. The Date is not yet to be revealed but I would say anytime soon because at the moment me & Sensei Moses Mutende is working very hard to make it happen, because the sooner the fast it’ll start functioning.”

Sneider said that he is happy with his achievements at the Glen Norah dojo and feels that he can move to other projects.

“Since the Dojo started functioning we have achieved a lot have seen many fighters that i have groomed scooping trophies and medals and also some have gone through grading and at our dojo we’ve got Junior Instructors that would be helping me whenever ak not around. The other Success stories is at the Dojo we’ve got many potential students who can be the World Champions for tomorrow likes of Senpai Tatenda Garamwera,Senpai Jonathan Mudhala,Kohai Simbarashe,Kohai Junior Brown,Kohai Junior Nyatwa,Luvvettes Brown just to mention few but the list is endless.”

Sneider said that the he wished for sponsors to come through to help with the few funds that they have.

“The project is not being funded by anyone but that money which paid up for training fee and other thing’s that will be needed at the dojo is helping us to move forward. We are not stopping because I know there’s always a way in everything, we wish to have sponsors. We’ve managed to buy other training equipment but we wish to have more.”

As the new dojo is set to be open, hopes are that the academy will produce equally successful martial arts professionals as both Sense Sneider and Sensei Moses.
