Zimbabwe head coach, Zdravko Logarusic, has announced the squad to face South Africa and Ethiopia in the World Cup qualifiers in September.

Zimbabwe will play Bafana Bafana on September 3 at the National Sports Stadium in Harare and will go to Ethiopia for a match against the same on September 7.

The squad has a number of England-born players who include Luton Town forward Admiral Muskwe, Ipswich Town striker Macauley Bonne, Bournemouth defender Jordan Zemura, Wigan Athletic captain Tendayi Darikwa and Plymouth Argyle fullback Brendan Galloway.

These England-based stars, including Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, might, however, not come as English clubs are trying to block the release of player from countries marked red on coronavirus travel restrictions.

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: “Premier League clubs have always supported their players’ desires to represent their countries – this is a matter of pride for all concerned. However, clubs have reluctantly but rightly come to the conclusion that it would be entirely unreasonable to release players under these new circumstances.

“Quarantine requirements mean that players’ welfare and fitness will be significantly impacted. We understand the challenges that exist in the international match calendar and remain open to workable solutions.”
Zimbabwe is marked red which means the called up players might fail to come.

The other newcomer in the team is Hamburger SV’s Jonah Fabisch son to legendary late Zimbabwe coach Reinhard.

There are no local based players in the squad.
