After successfully riding on his hit song “Mugarden” featuring Gemma Griffiths which was released in February this year, Winky D will finally release an album named “Njema” on the 31st of December at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC)

Speaking to this publication Winky D’s manager Jonathan Banda said that the album came as a response to the eagerness and positive feedback that has been shown by fans ever since Winky D’s last project.

“This album is coming hot on the heels of what others would call pressure, but we call it feedback around the artist not having released any content since his heavily invested last project (Mugarden).

“The album is therefore coming as a result of positive response from our fans as this shows that people value our content and people want us to produce content as they can easily relate with it,” said Banda.

Asked about the timeliness of releasing an album right at the end of the year, Banda mentioned that they felt obliged to meet the fans’ expectations as well as honour promises of periodically releasing music.

“Given a chance, we would have released the album next year, but we feel we should honour our promises and commitments to what the people want, that’s why we decided to drop it on the last day of the year to cap the year,” he said.

Banda expressed the need to have the album launched as a musical concert hence it will be headlined by artists of various music genres.

Notable artists to curtain raise for Winky D include high riding Baba Harare, Zim Hip Hop sensation Takura, Zim Dancehall Chairman “Killer T” among others.

Winky D gave the honour to his fans to name his forthcoming album.

“The album name came as a result of feedback from the people, what we simply did was to circulate visuals of him (Winky D) carrying some chains replicating the burdens of the overwhelming feedback coming from fans and a lot of names where suggested up until we settled for Njema,” said Banda.

Writing on his social media platforms barely two weeks ago Winky D wrote “Blessed Magafa” the wait is over, Let’s shut down 2019 in style. The album launch dubbed “Final shut down” will be launched on the 31st of December at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) Rainbow Towers.

Winky D has continued to attract a lot of corporate brands largely because of his clean lyrics and professional approach to music
