GOVERNMENT has paid over $35 million to about 650 white former commercial farmers whose land was repossessed under the Land Reform Programme. Over 900 white ex-farmers have applied for compensation under the Interim Relief Programme, which was established to facilitate payments, to mostly aged farmers, for developments they had done on the farms. Individual farmers are receiving $55 000 (US$1,500) which is being drawn from the $53 million set aside in the 2019 National Budget. – Sunday Mail
