FS Raiders Rugby Football Club is recruiting for a men’s senior team which is scheduled to compete when the league commences.

In an interview with Bustop TV, FS Raiders technical director Prosper Mubaiwa, said the men’s senior team will debut in 2021.

“So we have decided to take a step further with FS Raiders and create a senior men’s team as you know we only had the ladies senior  and Under 20 boys and girls. The process of recruitment has started. Right now we are taking down players that are willing to play for the club with the hope of making a debut in 2021.”

Mubaiwa added that he would like to surprise fans with players who have joined the team so far.

The former lady sables assistant coach said, “We do not have well known players as of now but I believe every player is interesting in their own way.  More so, I am a fan of surprises so I keep my cards very close to my chest. The recruitment is going great. We have quite a number of boys that will be moving from our U20 side into the senior team and new faces are coming through requesting to play so it’s really exciting to note that players are eager and embracing the opportunity.”

Trials will be held as soon as national regulations on sport permit and he recruitment will only be affected by player registration dates.

“From last week when the ad came out, players are coming through asking to play and we will have trials soon when rugby returns. As for when the recruitment will end, that’s subject to registration dates for the league, we do not wish to put a cap on that, we are here helping the growth of the game and be a competitive team,” he said.

Mubaiwa said that he hoped that FS Raiders will help in the growth of the game and that one day the sport will be played professionally in the country.

“We are here to stay, our mindset is fixed on playing our part in the growth of the game so that one day we turn pro and be a force to reckon with in the world.”
