Football Fans Rally Behind Mapeza

Masvingo – Local football fans have welcomed the appointment of Norman Mapeza as the coach for the Warriors team.

Mapeza was appointed as the Warriors coach two days ago by the Zimbabwe Football Association after the dismissal of Zdravko Logarusic.

Mapeza over took the national team on an interim basis and will oversee the remaining World Cup Campaign.

Speaking to Bustop TV football fans in Masvingo applauded his appointment.

Former footballer, George Charumbira said, “A lot of applications were made as many people wanted the coaches’ post but a decision was made and Mapeza was appointed as he was considered one of the best local coaches. Mapeza uplifted Platinum FC and became one of the best teams in Zimbabwe and in Africa so we have trust in him and know he will transform the team for the best. He will never disappoint us, we are going to support him all the way and we support his appointment. Mapeza is one of the best coaches we can ever have as a country.”

Lewis Magadza said Zimbabwe has the best players and that talent should be showcased.

“We have the best players in the country and our talent should not go to waste. We need a coach who will take the team to places, the talent we have needs to be natured, we also need to participate in all sporting activities and this can be accomplished if we have a team’s coach who shares the same vision and is keen at making sure the team performs to its best. We need the best players in the field, and Mapeza should come up with the best team formation. We respect the decision that was made by ZIFA,” he said.


Mapeza will be backed by the Lowveld coach Taurai Mangwiro, Mandla Mpofu and Energy Murambadoro.
