Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, has handed over to the police a bogus doctor who was working as a physician registrar in the hospital’s accident and emergency department.
Impeccable sources who talked to this publication said the fake doctor came to Parirenyatwa as a transfer in April when a number of health care workers had downed tools and the Covid-19 pandemic was at it’s peak.
“We started seeing him around in April, he was very confident of what he was doing since he came to work on a daily basis and we all assumed that we had a hands-on Doctor in the Hospital because he performed everything from surgeries to prescribing medication to patients.
“He would overdose some drugs on the prescriptions and it only took the qualified doctors to notice that there was something wrong with him, because he would fail to answer some simple questions relating to the medical field,” they said.
His name has not yet been disclosed.
In a statement, Parirenyatwa hospital said he was exposed by casualty staff who doubted his medical proficiency and made inquiries.
“Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals discovered that the Accident and Emergency Department had been infiltrated by a fake medical doctor who posed as a Physician Registrar. The matter was discovered after our vigilant Casualty Staff doubted his medical proficiency and made some inquiries. The suspect has been handed over to the police who are now handling the matter.
“We would like to urge both our staff and members of the public to continue being vigilant as people with malicious intentions can take advantage of the vastness of our hospital and its complex systems to cause various prejudices.
“In the meantime, the hospital eagerly awaits the outcome from the police investigations,” read the statement.
