MDC Leader Nelson Chamisa today said his party will roll out anti-government demonstrations against government which has destroyed citizens livelihood.

Addressing hundreds of MDC supporters at Stodart Hall, Mbare in Harare, Chamisa said the MDC leadership will use protests to push for a “transitional authority” which will run Zimbabwe until ‘credible’ elections are held.

Chamisa who challenged the 2018 presidential election results has maintained his stance that the ruling party, ZANU PF rigged the elections.

“This year is going to be a year of demonstrations and action,” he said to wild cheers.

“It is time to fight for a Zimbabwe we all want, and have been dreaming of. Come what may, we will not be intimidated. We will walk in the path of resistance. We are emboldened and resolved. In 2020 we will focus our efforts on the peoples fight,” said Chamisa.

Speaking at the same event today Tuesday, Chamisa also said that his party will launch Breaking Barriers Initiative (BBI).

“The program is to unite people across all political divides, all churches, the rural-urban divide and other divisions. Our political party is an instrument for change meant to benefit each and every Zimbabwean regardless of who they are,” added Chamisa.

He also took a swipe at MDC MPs, councilors, mayors who are not performing competitively in terms of engagement with the people assuring them that they will be recalled.

“What do you want in Parliament if youre only there for your stomach? The propaganda machine will have you think that the MDC has abandoned the peoples cause in Parliament.

“But we continue to fight for transparency and accountability in Parliament,” added Chamisa.

Todays State of the Nation Address (SONA) came after the Zimbabwe Republic Police had turned down the MDC application to hold such on numerous occasions citing what the MDC termed “ungrounded” reasons.
