Former Dynamos FC coach, David “Yogi” Mandigora has urged all local football clubs to utilise on the home advantage whenever they play their opponents in the CAF Champions League tournament.

The call follows after the three time champions, FC Platinum dismally failed to impress in the prestigious tournament.

In their previous three editions, FC Platinum have managed to reach the group stages once, though recently they were knocked out of the tournament without recording a single win.

Last month the Zvishavane based side crushed out of the champions league tournament, losing 4-1 on aggregate to the Tanzanian giants, Simba SC.

They were relegated to CAF Confederations Cup, where they also suffered a heavy blow, only to crush out of the tournament by 2-0 defeat on aggregate to Senegalese opponents, ASC Jaraaf.

However, giants such as Dynamos FC and Caps United have previously displayed an impressive performance in the continental tournament.

In the domestic football, only Dynamos has managed to reach beyond the group stages, losing 4-2 on aggregate to Asec Mimosa in the 1998 final and then going as far as the semi-final in 2008.

The 1980 soccer star of the year (Mandigora) told Sunday Mail that maximizing on home advantage is important, given that the club wants to reach far in the CAF tournament.

“It is always good to get maximum points at home, with a good goal margin, them try to get a good result away from home (maybe play for a draw when you play away),” Yogi told Sunday Mail.

Mandigora is the last coach to guide a domestic football team beyond the group stages.
