A South African based Chinese promoter has threatened to have authorities ban Zimdancehall artists, Boss Pumacol, Uncle Epaton and Master H from performing in the neighbouring country.

This comes after the trio under Mbare’s Chillspot record label allegedly duped him of his money when they did not show up for a gig at his Johannesburg bar last Saturday.

The promoter, Weinjan Chen, said that he has since reported the three to South African authorities risking them a life ban from entering South Africa for live performances.

“I have reported the matter, they are trying to crook me my money so I will also make sure they are banned to hold shows here,” he fumed.

According to reports, Boss Pumacol and Uncle Epaton ditched the Chinese promoter after having reached an agreement for a R13 000 performance fee.

The deposits were sent via Mukuru money remittance.

According to a local tabloid, the chanters had a different story as they said the promoter did not meet their demands and even paid the deposits late.

The chanters claimed the promoter had initially made a poster without their consent and when they later agreed, he sent their deposit fees late. They also complained that Cheng wanted them to travel by bus which did not go well with their handlers.

“After that the other guys confirmed vakati dhiri bho but he sent the deposit money late. We got the money on Friday morning and that was the same day we were supposed to travel and this did not go well with the other guys.

“Personally, I told him could no longer make it because I had family commitments, I had made other plans because I was not sure whether he was going to send the money or not,” said Pumacol.

He said he asked to return the deposit fee, which Cheng asked him to hand to another person.

Cheng confirmed getting a return from Pumacol only but complained it was not the full deposit fee he had sent him.

“I sent Pumacol an equivalent of US$140 for deposit but he only returned US$70. “Uncle Epaton and Master H just kept quiet.”

In a separate interview Uncle Epaton, said, “I didn’t go for the show because the money he wanted to give us was little and he also wanted us to travel by bus.

” My management was not okay with that arrangement and they opted to send him back his money.”
