Chad’s main opposition leader Saleh Kebzabo has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming race for the country’s presidential election.

This follows after Kebzabo accused veteran dictator president Idriss Deby of using violent tactics and terror to intimidate his rivals.

In a statement that was released on Monday, Kebzabo announced that his party has decided to “purely and simply” withdraw from the presidential elections that were lined-up for April 11.

However, the former journalist’s (Kebzabo) decision to withdraw comes as a result of a deadly shoot-out that took place at the place of another candidate Yaya Dillo in Ndjamena which he condemned as a “military attack”.

Meanwhile, Chad president, Idriss Deby has ruled for more than 30 years and the coming election will see him run for a sixth term.
