All Chitungwiza Councillors and officials have been arrested in a full Council meeting.
Reasons for the arrest are still unknown but it is believed that the Finance Director Mrs Machona who was the Acting Town Clerk is the one who connived with the Police after Council made a resolution to put Mr Duma as Chitungwiza Acting TC removing Mrs Machona the Finance Director who was acting Town Clerk.
The harassment of Councilors and disruption of Council business is happening without any basis. This happened in Harare City a month ago and all arrested Councilors and Officials were released after hours of detention without any charge.
Also arrested were journalists who were giving coverage of the full council meeting
When reached out for a comment Chitungwiza Town Council Spokesperson Lovemore Meya said that the journalists were not given time to identify themselves.
All the arrested have since been transferred to the commercial crimes unit at the Harare Central police station.
