Local Afro fusion musician, Ba Shupi is set to break his six year sabbatical with a new album.

Although he had performed at several shows, Ba Shupi real name Peace Ndlovu had not released any music since his last album, Dura released in 2014.

He is set to return with an explosive 11 track album titled Homwe which will be released in April.

Speaking to Bustop TV the ‘Godo’ hitmaker said the album has only two collaborations with local artists.

He acknowledge that his last album had been a failure so he had decided to take a break.

“We are supposed to launch the album on 25 April. I released an album before called Dura but it did not do well so I went quiet. Now I have come back with this new album which will be launched and distributed online by 321 beats.”

When one is given an opportunity to life, usually they will do all they can to keep living and for Ba Shupi, working on Homwe helped him look forward to a new day.

He said, “I featured Dhadza D and Edith WeUtonga but I did everything other song on the 11 track album. The album is a fusion of different genres. There is traditional soul, Afro fusion and hip hop. I did it all on this album.”

This writer was privileged to sample four songs and confirm that the 40 year old artist went above his normal signature where he would shout in traditional slurs to proper singing.

Ba Shupi has had successful hits such as Tezvara Varamba and his biggest piece yet is Godo which featured rapper, Stunner.

NOriginally from Masvingo, Ba Shupi is also an actor and poet.
