Bulawayo based Hip Hop artiste, Asaph Afrika, has called on music fans’ of all genres in the country to give him support by voting on his latest award nomination
Asaph Africa real name Tafadzwa Tarukwana was nominated in the 2021 listeners’ choice award on MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA).
Speaking to Bustop TV, an elated Asaph Afrika said that he was happy that Hip Hop was representing Zimbabwe on a continental stage.
“I am pretty excited to be representing Zimbabwe on a continental platform. Coming from Bulawayo and being a Zim-Hip Hop artist, I think it’s a first for Bulawayo and it’s a first for Zimbabwe Hip Hop so I am pretty excited about that. Obviously, I am hoping to win the thing but moreover I hope awareness can be spread that we can support our artistes who come from different cities.
“We can also support all genres because for Hip Hop to get a placement like this is a big deal and it shows that Zim Hip Hop is representing the country in the listener’s choice category on a continental stage. I am pretty excited about this,” he said
Asaph started recording in 2007. He then joined the group Bad Boyz which he won a Zim Hip Hop award with under the best group category in 2015. His solo career has blossomed as evidenced by his MAMA nomination.
