Bulawayo based dance trio Asante-Mo on Tuesday mesmerized dozens of fans who attended their first official show at Harare Gardens in the capital.

The trio which consists of Bekithemba Phiri, Newman Trindad and Aaron Chikondawanga, captivated fans with a well-choreographed contemporary stage performance which is a fusion of drums, bells, decks and dance dubbed Afro-tech.

Phiri and Trindad arrayed in the infamous black and white skeleton overalls put fans in an ecstatic frenzy with their hypnotizing ultra-modern tantalizing performance when they took to the dark stage illuminated by a spotlight.

During the performance Trindad invited one of the fans to join him in a spontaneous act of emphatic bell tapping that was in harmony and in sync with beat playing in the background.

The fan passed the litmus test with flying colours as he meticulously vibed with the new feel of Afro-tech which caused the rest of the audience to erupt in cheer.

In a post show question and answer segment Trindad explained that Afro-Tech was a new “refreshing form of entertainment they hoped to spread across the globe.”

“Afro-tech which involves a combination of drums, bells, decks is a new concept we have come up with as Asante-MO.

“We realized that the entertainment industry is constantly evolving, and needs entertainers to be constantly innovative and stay relevant.

“That’s what inspired us to come up with Afro-tech which we believe is a spiritual tonic that relieves stress and depression and also instills a sense of happiness and joy,” he said.
