United States Ambassador, Brian Nichols has blasted government’s double standards following it’s failure to bring perpetrators im human rights abuse cases to book.

This follows his meeting with Foreign Affairs minister, Sibusiso Moyo over USA presidential top security advisor, Robert O’brien remarks that Zimbabwe was one of America’s foreign ‘adversaries’ who were trying to interfere in their country’s affairs.

Protests have broken out in America over the murder of an African American, George Floyd while in police custody.

In a statement released after the meeting, Nichols said that it was ironic that the Zimbabwean administration is infuriated by George Floyd case but has many skeletons in it’s closet.

“I again urged Zimbabwe’s government to end state sponsored violence against peaceful protesters, civil society, labour leaders and members of the opposition in Zimbabwe, ans to hold accountable those responsible for human rights abuses.

“Both America and Zimbabwe constitutions enshrine the right to peaceful protests and free speech, we must forever conduct our struggle on high plane of dignity and and discipline. Yet peaceful protesters like Netsai Marova, Cecilia Chimbiri and Joanna Mamombe were abducted, tourtured and left for dead.

“Mr Floyd killer was charged with murder in days, yet in Zimbabwe surely wonder when after many years Patrick Nabanyama, Itai Dzamara and Paul Chizuze will get justice.”

In an interview O’Brien had said that there’s going to be a proportional response to these adversaries who were trying to use anti-racists protests in America to meddle in their affairs.

He emphasised that “this is not something that our adversaries are going to get away with for free.”
