Khupe, Komichi, Mwonzora buying support: Mash

Mashonaland West MDC Alliance Provincial Chairperson, Tawanda Magunje has accused MDC secretary-general, Douglas Mwonzora and Morgen Komichi of bribing party members to join their faction.
In an interview with Bustop TV, Magunje accused Khupe’s faction of receiving funds to destabilise MDC structures from ZANU PF.
“These people Khuphe, Mwonzora, Komichi are working with Zanu PF so it means they have some money given to them for vote-buying purposes. They can follow up with certain members and induce them with money so that they have access to our membership-and with this induced poverty, some may be bought. The cabal has no grassroots supporters so that’s the only way they can conduct their EOC (extraordinary congress).”
Asked if rumours of some senior provincial party cadres, including Senator Voice Chinake, were defecting Magunje said that he was not certain on how things would turn out.
“In politics’ anything can happen, brother. l have also heard the same story but to be honest, l have not had time to verify. I have other notable names though and you may know some of them like Konjana of Chegutu West and some few members who lost during the Congress 2019 period.”
Meanwhile, Magunje issued a provincial directive stating that all issues to do with structures were under his charge during this period.
“This memo serves to direct all structures in Mash West that from now henceforth, any issues to deal with all-party structures from 2014 up to 2020 will be the direct responsibility of my office in consultation with the Provincial Organising Committee until further notice. During this period, the Office of the Provincial Chair will work for hand in glove with the National Organiser and the National Organising Department on periodic updates & necessary engagements.”
He also urged party members within his province to remain unphased by the emergency of the Khupe splinter group whom he described as “a sinking ship”.
“Let’s remain vigilant as we have some people moving around misrepresenting as officials from our MDC Headquarters spreading falsehoods in order to either buy or steal our structures & use them towards their sinking ship of the Khuphe, Mwonzora, Komichi-ZanuPf funded proposed Extra-Ordinary Congress. Havana vanhu saka,they are desperate and they are prepared to do anything, can use/buy some weak members amongst us: should they contact or approach any one of you our true and resilient unwavering cadres immediately, beep, send a please call me, send an SMS or voice or Whatsapp call me. I’m proud of all Mash Westerners, it’s you who are making our province politically greater by each passing phase-a renowned political hub in our national political landscape.”
