Zimbabwe needs a patriotic army – PLM

The Poverty Liberation Movement (PLM) has urged the defence forces to support the #ZimbabweLivesMatter movement.

The group said the army needs to be patriotic and have the citizens at heart.

“As PLM we now challenge their conscience and call on their poor families to call them to order. Now more than ever Zimbabwe needs to a patriotic army one that protects the people and not butchers them. And if ever there was a time when those good men and women in uniform and boots should be counted its now.
Why would a man/woman work so hard to enrich and protect those who impoverish and abuse them and their family? Why would a soldier who swore allegiance to country Constitution and flag be complicit to abuse of fellow citizens,” PLM said.

PLM said although everyone is suffering those in the uniformed forces continue to thwart the rights of the people who are demanding a better life.

“In stark contrast, the top echelons of the military caste are multi millionaires, billionaires even. They stay in palaces, holiday away from the country, get treated in foreign hospitals and top it all off with trophy girlfriends and fine whiskey. Compared to what is happening, George Orwell’s Animal Farm pales into significance.”

The ZimbabweanLivesMatter is for everyone’s benefit including the lower caste members of the army benefit.

PLM’s Defense Forces Day message concluded by saying, “all Zimbabweans including the impoverished soldiers deserve bread, butter and roses too. We challenge the men and women in uniform and boots to serious search for reason in their mind.”
