MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa has distanced himself from controversial business tycoon, Kudakwashe Tagwirei following claims that he received funding from him.
This comes after social media was awash with rumours that the MDC Alliance was bankrolled by Tagwirei, Mnangagwa right hand man and advisor.
Addressing the media, Chamisa said dismissed the claims stating that his party nor himself had any links with Tagwirei whom he described as a ‘dirty man’.
“Tagwirei is a dirty man. l have no contact with Tagwirei. I have problems with the way he does politics. Yes l drive a land cruiser. But the car was bought second hand from a local car sale. We are a modest party. We are financed by the people. We don’t go for those lofty things. I have heard some aspersions to the effect that l received fuel coupons. If you ask the MDC people they will tell you who finance this party. The entire leadership is not paid neither is the president nor the secretary general.”
Recently a damning externalization expose was released detailing how Tagwirei and his multiple companies allegedly siphoned and externalized millions out the country.
The Sakunda boss is known for his strong links with the Zanu PF party.
