Four Zimbabwe National Army officers were last Thursday brought before Bindura magistrate, Samantha Dhlamini on allegations of an attempted mine robbery in February 2021.

The four; Stephen Musanhu (32) Richard Masamba (27) Jacob Gatsi (34) and Remigio Mabwe (43) are all attached at the ZNA Headquarters.

Representing the state, Carson Kundiona alleged the four on the 21st of February travelled to Guruve’s Crown Mine in a Toyota Hilux.

On arrival, they were intercepted by Paul Rushwaya whom they manhandled and demand keys to the carbon room.

Rushwaya screamed for help and other miners and villagers nearby came to his rescue. They fought with the soldiers who were armed with machetes, bolt cutters, handcuffs and knobkerries, until they escaped in their car.

They were however intercepted by police on their way back and arrested.

The four are expected back in court on Thursday.
