Zengeza West legislator,  Job Sikhala has dismissed claims that his son was involved in the murder of a man who was allegedly killed by a mob adjacent to his home in St. Mary’s Chitungwiza last month.

Job Sikhala (Junior) was arrested on Tuesday on allegations of contravening section 47 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter after being accused of murdering one Paul Masarakufa.

In a warned and cautioned statement issued at St Mary’s police station under CR number 169/08/21 gleaned by this publication, Job (Junior) who is a law student at the University of Zimbabwe is being accused of assaulting Musarakufa several times using a sjambok, iron bars, and wooden planks causing head injuries causing the deceased’s death.

However, his father Job Sikhala (Senior) who is also MDC A vice chairperson and a lawyer by profession has denied his son’s involvement in the murder saying these these allegations are  an attack against his family.

In a lengthy statement that he issued, Sikhala maintained his son’s innocence whilst narrating a series of events which transpired ever since the day the tragic incident took place across his St Mary’s home.

“The allegations are purely an attack against my family. The murder happened at a house directly opposite mine. Initially my State enemies wanted the corpse to be dropped at my doorsteps to incriminate me. We didn’t even hear about what happened that led to the death of that thief. This murder allegedly happened around 2am when everyone was dead asleep”, fumed Sikhala.

Job Sikhala (Junior) was arrested on Tuesday morning at Chitungwiza Magistrate Court where he had accompanied a colleague who was  representing a client at the same court.

He is being represented by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights lawyer Freddy Masarirevhu and is set to appear in court today.
