Greater Harare local government political leaders are to blame for the problems bedevilling the Metropolitan province of Harare. The Minister appears to dig in at Councilors whom he accused of wanting to usurp executives’ duties thus hampering councils programs. He said “part of the problems bedevilling Harare Metropolitan province has to do with political leaders who behave as executives”
The minister’s assertion contradicts those of Harare Mayor Cllr Herbert Gomba , who last week was on record denouncing executives who he said are politically connected and appear to act as political commissars of a political party in government. Recently former Harare Mayor councillor Ben Manyenyeni , also took a swipe at the government for some of the problems that Harare Metropolitan province is saddled with.
The former Mayor appears to suggest that, the ZANU PF government has always been sabotaging Councils to which they don’t control. For many years Harare Metropolitan province, which encompasses Harare City Council, Chitungwiza and Epworth Local Board has been politically administrated by the opposition Movement for Democratic Change.
