Chiredzi – The MDC Alliance has stepped up its election campaigns in the rural areas.

This is part of the party’s action plan to win the 2023 elections as there is a gap between the urban and the rural evidenced by stats from the 2018 elections where MDC Alliance won only one council seat in ward 16.

Addressing a provincial youth rally held in Chiredzi West in ward 16, National Youth Chair, Obey Sithole encouraged the MDC Alliance members who were present at the rally never to lose hope and not feel intimated.

“As MDC Alliance members, this is the time we need to fearless and not be intimidated by any other parties that are trying to divide the party. There is a need to mobilize grassroots structures as the battle line has been drawn against the party. We have to fight till the end, our efforts to have a better Zimbabwe cannot go in vain so we have to make sure our efforts are recognized and nothing must stand our way.
Zanu PF and, MDC T being led by Thokozani Khupe, Mwonzora, Komichi and Mudzuri are trying to divide us but we have to stay strong as these are the testing times. Our party is still strong as ever and nothing is going to shake that. We are now busy with mobilisation in preparation of the 2023 coming elections,” said Sithole.

He added that, their rivals are trying by all means to make sure that 2014 MDC –T members are banned from attending the extraordinary congress ordered by the Supreme Court.

Last week, the Masvingo 2014 MDC –T structures made demands to MDC –T interim leader, Thokozani Khupe to without delay put across the proper 2014 MDC –T standing committee, National Executive Council and National Council to map the congress that is to be held.
