Award winning freelance journalist Hopewell Chin’ono was yet again today Monday denied bail.

Chin’ono and his accomplice Jacob Ngarivhume leader of opposition party Transform Zimbabwe are facing charges of inciting public violence.

The duo were on the list released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in July wanted for questioning about the flopped 31 July anti-government protests.

On justifying the need to keep Chin’ono in remand, Magistrate Ngoni Nduna said that there are no new facts warranting his admission to bail.

Chin’ono whose lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa was barred by the court from representing him for contempt of court was joined in custody by Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala who was arrested from his hideout on Thursday.

Sikhala, an outspoken government critic who has been into hiding from late July after appearing on police wanted list is set to return to court this afternoon after having been denied bail on Friday.

Chin’on who was arrested on July 20 2020 has spent more than one month in remand prison with recent pictures of him showing that he has lost weight.

He has since been complaining of hunger whilst in custody
