Govnt To Announce a Day Of Fasting and Prayer Amidst Worsening Humanitarian Crisis’s

President Mnangagwa is set to announce a national day of prayer and fasting , Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said yesterday

“We wish to advise that His Excellency the President is set to officially announce a day of fasting and national prayer.”

“Further details would be made available when the President makes the official announcement, she said”

At the same press briefing , Minister Mutsvangwa said Government was stepping up security at quarantine centres amidst returnees escaping thus risking an exponential spike in the number of infections.

Chief Co-ordinator of the National Response to Covid-19 Dr Agnes Mahomva said yesterday quarantine centres are to be made more secure and people will need to surrender travel documents.

“In order to curtail the prevalence of people absconding from quarantine centres, Cabinet agreed that identification/travel documents be collected from returnees on arrival and returned to them at the end of the quarantine period”.

“Noting that not everyone who is COVID-19 positive has a conducive self isolation home, Cabinet resolved that some asymptomatic COVID-19”
