Four life sentences for Chivhu killer mom

by Bustop TV News

A Chivhu woman Emelda Marizani who killed her four minor daughters in cold blood in 2020 has been sentenced to life imprisonment by High Court Judge Justice Munamato Mutevedzi.

Marizani was charged with four counts of murder and was given a life sentence for each.

Judge Mutevedzi said the murder was done in aggravated circumstances, it was a mass murder and deserved a heavy penalty.

Marizani killed her  four daughters by slitting their throats during their sleep one after the other after she had given them poisoned juice.

She went on to set her family house on fire.

“She also used multiple fatal methods to kill her victims after she admitted to lacing four cups with poison and instructing her children to drink it. She chose two extreme modus operandi used by murderers,” Mutevedzi said.

He added, “Cutthroat method was savage and brutal whilst poisoning is considered a more humane way to take life.

“Accused is a highly dangerous criminal, the court will show little to no mercy to a mother who butchers her own children.

“She does not deserve a second chance; she also does not deserve to go back to society.”

At the time Marizani murdered her children, she was heavily pregnant with her fifth child who is the only one surviving.
